The midpoint is like taking the average of both points.

(-2, 5) and (6, -9)

Midpoint = ( (-2 + 6) / 2 ,  (5 + -9)/2 )

                 =  ( (6 - 2) / 2  ,  (5 - 9) / 2 )

                 =    (4/2,  -4/2) =  (2 , -2)

Midpoint = (2 , -2)
