I was just reading this in my physics notes. I believe it's called the head-to-tail method. Start on the adjacent side the follow it clockwise for positive, or counter clockwise for negative.
Answer: If the hypotenuse and one leg of a right triangle are congruent to the hypotenuse and one leg of another right triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
