1.

x^2 + 6.4^2 = 8^2

x^2 = 40.96 = 64

x^2 = 64 -40.96

x^2 = 23.04

x = sqrt(23.04) = 4.8

2. y=

y^2 + 3^2 = 5^2

y^2 +9 = 25

y^2 = 25-9

y^2 = 16

y = sqrt(16) = 4
