= 10^5(
(8.12 + 5.27)
= 13.39 x 10^5
= 1.339 x 10^6

(8.12 x 10^5) + (5.27 x 10^5)
812,000 + 527,000 = 1,339,000.
Basically you are just moving the decimal place over 5 place values.
